CAJPA 2020 Fall Conference Update-COVID-19

CAJPA’s leadership has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in anticipation of the impact on our membership and the 2020 Annual Conference. The physical and mental health of our members is our top priority. We regrettably had to cancel a few events planned for this Spring including the Finance & Technology Workshop, Legislative Action Day and one of our LITL programs. We are committed to looking for other ways to deliver the takeaways from those programs in the near future.

Planning for CAJPA’s Annual Conference and exhibit show continues full speed ahead. The 2020 CAJPA Annual Conference will be held September 15th-18th in beautiful South Lake Tahoe. We are highly sensitive to the uncertainty our attendees face with their ability to register and ultimately travel to the conference.

In order for attendees to register with confidence, we have implemented the following measures:

• Registration is open and as always, the registration process will include the “bill me” option, providing registrants the ability to save their seat now without paying up front.
• The cancellation policy has increased flexibility. Registrations cancelled before August 15th due to COVID-19 will receive a full refund with no processing fee. Registrations cancelled from August 16th to September 4th will receive a full
refund less a processing fee of $50. Cancellations made after September 4th will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Our exhibitors and sponsors’ cancellation policy has not been changed at this time. However, CAJPA will continue to follow the state and federal recommendations and maintain flexibility as the date gets closer. The continued support of exhibitors and sponsors is very vital to CAJPA as is the well-being of those participants onsite. Exhibitors and sponsors should work directly with Beth Ramirez at beth2017@cajpa.org with questions or requests.
•Depending on the situation as the conference date gets closer, CAJPA staff will be working with the host hotels on their cancellation policies for sleeping rooms. If there is an immediate concern, please contact the hotel directly.

If you have any questions on conference registration please reach out to Rayneedae Garcia at rgarcia@cajpa.org or visit the CAJPA conference page.

CAJPA Headquarters Support

CAJPA Headquarters is continuing operations by telework during Governor Newsom’s “shelter-in-place” order. This may result in slower response times to your inquiries. If you need Headquarters’ support during this time, instead of calling, please email info@cajpa.org or email your staff contact directly.

Catherine Smith, Executive Director casmith@cajpa.org
Carmen Berry, Administrative Director cberry@cajpa.org
Angelique Grellus, Association Coordinator agrellus@cajpa.org
Abi Hague, Association Coordinator ahague@cajpa.org
Rayneedae Garcia, Association Assistant rgarcia@cajpa.org

CAJPA leadership will continue to reach out to members as we move through these unprecedented times. CAJPA remains a resource to all of you and encourage members to reach out to Headquarters and one another during this public health crisis. Our Board, committees, consultants and staff remain committed to serving our members. Thanks to all of you for continuing to do your part in keeping our communities safe. We will emerge from this crisis stronger and smarter. We look forward to seeing you all in September.

Stay safe and stay healthy,
CAJPA Board of Directors and Staff
