Annual Membership Meeting and Program Updates

CAJPA will be holding its CAJPA 2020 Annual Membership Meeting and Program Updates virtually on December 11, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. These sessions usually occur at our in-person annual conference in Lake Tahoe. We encourage all members to mark their calendars to attend! The virtual annual event will include:

  • Association Update
  • Board of Directors Election
  • 2020 Legislative Update
  • 2020 Legal Affairs Update

During the Legislative Update, Legislative Committee Chair Norm Lefmann and Legislative Advocate Faith Borges will lead the discussion on how COVID-19 impacted legislation pertaining to workers compensation, employee benefits, liability and various governing issues. Final results on CAJPA’s key bills will be shared. Panelists will also highlight the importance of member participation in legislative advocacy and how understanding the legislative process can be key in producing positive outcomes.

CAJPA’s 2020 Legal Affairs briefing will host a panel of public entity attorneys (CAJPA Legal Affairs Committee members) who will review significant cases that were decided this past year in the areas of JPA administration and coverage issues, workers’ compensation, civil rights, government tort claims act, inverse condemnation, immunities, and labor and employment law.

The information provided in both of these sessions will allow CAJPA members to understand the impact on pool operations, governance and coverages resulting from decisions made in the Capitol and in the court room.
